Nottingham Forest Stadium Expansion Plan Moves Toward Major Planning Decision
DATELINE: Nottingham, September 10, 2026
Nottingham Forest's plans to expand the City Ground are moving closer to a major planning decision. The proposed redevelopment could increase the stadium's capacity to around 52,500, potentially making it one of the largest football stadiums in England.
The project includes a major redevelopment of the Peter Taylor Stand and wider improvements to the stadium site. Supporters of the proposal say the investment could create jobs, strengthen the local economy and improve facilities for fans.
Rushcliffe Borough Council's planning committee is scheduled to consider the wider expansion application on September 16. Transport and matchday traffic remain among the issues being considered as part of the development plans.
