Netherlands Plans €201 Million AI Supercomputer in Groningen

DATELINE: Groningen, September 23, 2026

BODY: The planned facility is expected to receive an investment of around €201 million. The project will combine a supercomputer with an expertise centre focused on artificial intelligence.

Installation is scheduled for 2027, with the system expected to become fully operational in 2028. Funding will come from European Union and Dutch government sources, along with the Nij Begun recovery programme.
