Madrid Gets Temporary Relief From Summer Heat as Temperatures Drop

Madrid experienced a noticeable drop in temperatures on Thursday, providing residents with temporary relief after an exceptionally hot summer across Spain.

Temperatures in the Spanish capital fell to around 13 degrees Celsius during the early hours, while daytime temperatures reached approximately 27 degrees.

The cooler conditions are linked to a change in weather patterns affecting the region. However, meteorologists do not expect the cooler period to last for long.

Forecasts indicate that temperatures could rise again during the weekend, with maximum temperatures potentially reaching around 30 to 31 degrees Celsius.

The changing weather comes after Spain recorded its highest number of heatwave days on record this year. The country experienced 61 heatwave days across mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, according to AEMET.

The brief return of cooler weather therefore does not necessarily signal the end of summer conditions.

Residents are expected to see clearer skies in Madrid over the weekend, although temperatures may rise again as warmer air returns to the region.
