Birmingham Airport Faces Continued Travel Disruption After Major UK Air Traffic Control Failure

Passengers travelling through Birmingham Airport have been affected by wider disruption following a major technical failure in the UK's air traffic control system. The incident caused widespread delays and cancellations across several major UK airports.

The National Air Traffic Services, or NATS, said the technical problem was resolved, but the disruption continued to affect airline operations as aircraft, crews and passengers had to be repositioned. More than 1,000 flights were cancelled during the wider incident, with Birmingham among the airports affected.

The UK government has ordered an investigation into the failure, while the Civil Aviation Authority is also expected to conduct an independent review. Travellers have been advised to check directly with their airlines before travelling to the airport because residual disruption may continue.
