Amsterdam Museum Opens Major Yayoi Kusama Exhibition

Amsterdam's Stedelijk Museum has opened a major exhibition dedicated to Japanese contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama, shortly after her death at the age of 97.

The exhibition, originally planned as a retrospective of Kusama's work, has now taken on the character of a posthumous tribute to one of the world's best-known contemporary artists.

Kusama was internationally recognised for her distinctive use of polka dots, mirrors and repeating patterns. Her work explored themes including infinity, perception and the relationship between individuals and their surroundings.

The Amsterdam exhibition includes several major works and immersive installations, giving visitors an opportunity to experience different stages of the artist's career.

Kusama had a significant connection with the Netherlands and participated in the country's artistic and cultural scene during the 1960s.

The exhibition is expected to attract visitors from the Netherlands and abroad and will remain open until January 17.

The event adds another major international cultural attraction to Amsterdam's museum calendar.
