Amsterdam Invests €900,000 in Future Circular Textile Industry

The city of Amsterdam has announced a €900,000 investment aimed at supporting the future of the circular textile industry.

The funding will help establish facilities where textile makers can develop new approaches to recycling, reuse and sustainable production. The planned TextileHub at Donauweg is expected to begin operations from 2027.

The initiative is part of Amsterdam's wider efforts to promote a more circular economy and reduce waste generated by the fashion and textile sectors.

Circular textiles focus on extending the life of clothing and materials while reducing the need for new raw materials. The sector is expected to become increasingly important as European cities and businesses look for ways to reduce environmental impacts.

The Amsterdam project could provide space for designers, entrepreneurs and other textile professionals to experiment with new production methods and sustainable materials.

City officials see the investment as an opportunity to combine innovation, employment and environmental goals.
