Dubai Greenlights Massive AED 18 Billion Expansion for Advanced Metro Blue Line

DUBAI: In a major push to upgrade its urban transit network, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially approved the final engineering phases for the highly anticipated Metro Blue Line project. The AED 18 billion mega-project will introduce a 30-kilometre route seamlessly connecting key economic hubs, residential sectors, and rapidly growing academic cities across the emirate.
According to municipal planners, the Blue Line will feature Dubai's first underground interchange station and will be fully integrated with AI-driven automated train signalling systems to support maximum passenger capacities. This massive mass-transit expansion aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) to reduce carbon emissions by shifting commuter traffic onto zero-emission electric rail networks. The construction phase is projected to generate thousands of specialized engineering and infrastructure jobs over the next few years.
