Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery Launches Multi-Million Pound Heritage Restoration Project

 

BIRMINGHAM: To preserve its world-class cultural assets, the Birmingham Museums Trust, in partnership with heritage funds, has launched a historic multi-million-pound restoration and modernization project for the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. The long-term initiative introduces state-of-the-art environmental control systems and a massive structural conservation campaign to safeguard its famous collection of Pre-Raphaelite artwork and historic artifacts.

Under the new infrastructure upgrade, specific galleries will be fitted with intelligent climate-control sensors to regulate humidity and light exposure in real-time, preventing the deterioration of centuries-old canvas and metalwork. Furthermore, curators will deploy advanced digital scanning technology to create high-resolution virtual interactive archives for students and researchers globally.
